Feedback From Teachers (Tyler)
After feedback from our peers and teachers we have decided to change some things regarding our initial idea.
-Our film will no longer be about a 'young girl' but instead a 'young adult' who cannot socialise with people properly hence the teddy bears, children tea set & killing of the friend.

PLANNING - Feedback from Class
What we done well:
From the feedback that we received we were told that our presentation was short and snappy, it was straight to the point. Furthermore, the use of pictures for our costumes, props and location was good by the majority of the class. Also our plot idea was good.
What we could do better:
There could've been more pictures in the presentation, also we could've gone in a bit more depth on the reasons why we were using the props that we were using and on some of the decisions that we made.
Also we needed to be clear on our core audience and how we present.

PLANNING - Distribution Companies
MAMA
The main distribution company for the film MAMA is Universal Pictures. However, from the screenshot above, we can see that the film has other independent distribution companies for different countries. This makes sense as some countries may need subtitles the film in their own language in order to understand it.
The marketing tools used to distribute the film was posters and social media. The film has its own Twitter and Facebook page.

Insidious
Paranormal Activity
Conclusion:
Both films have the same social group therefore horror movies are mostly watched by the working class and they also support the left side of politics and they are also really into media. On the other hand the regions are different and the age group is quite wide as Insidious has an age group of 18-24 year old whereas paranormal activity is 25'39 year old, this shows that horror genre, the age range is quite wide. From the research I previously done the age range was much older from the same genre.

RESEARCH - The Importance of Sound
The Importance of Sound
- Sound - something you hear.
- Soundscape - combination of sounds.
- Sound design - editing sound.
- 'Suspending disbelief' - when the audience engages with the film.
Sound is important because it is used in films to establish tone and atmosphere and to help give the audience clues about the plot, characters or to identify the genre of the film. It is also used to help 'suspend disbelief' to create realism for the viewer and heighten their experience of the film.
George Lukas, the director of the Star Wars franchise, argues that 'sound is 50%'. In other words, without sound you only have half the product or a film that isn't as good as it could be.
There have been many developments in sound and sound design over the course of film history an now we have the technology to ensure that a film's sound is a three dimensional, visceral experience that makes the film as enjoyable to hear, as it is to watch.
RESEARCH - What is genre?
Genres are used to categorise different products that share similar features or characteristics. Genres are important because they help quickly establish differences between different media forms. They also help establish certain codes and conventions that film makers can follow in order to make the product look a certain way or to achieve a certain effect and attract a specific audience. They create expectations and familiarity in audiences, which leads audiences to develop personal tastes around the genre.
- Genre - specific type or category of music, film or writing
- Sub-Genre - a subdivision of a genre e.g RomCom
- Hybrid genre - blends themes and elements from two or more different genres
- Codes and Conventions - codes are systems of signs, which create meaning - technical and symbolic. Conventions are typical things that are expected in a genre
- Genre Tropes - common/overused themes or devices
Comedy is one of my favourite genres. The conventions mainly include bright settings, such as towns and cities. The technical code is that the lighting is commonly bright or natural light because this creates a realistic environment. The camera shots are mainly close up or medium close up. This is to capture the facial expressions of the characters. Moreover, comedy films usually have some sort of sound effects to contribute to the humor. A good example of a comedy film is The Hangover.
Romance is another of of my favourite genres. The common conventions of the romance genre is that there is mainly two protagonists, a male and a female. The film is often centered around the female character, therefore we mainly see the film from her point of view. Furthermore, there is often always a happy ending in the relationship of the two protagonists, by them either getting together or getting married. A good example of a romantic film is The Notebook.
Action is another genre I enjoy to watching, as they give you a thrill and excitement. The common conventions of action movies tend to include big machinery, a massive destruction, death of loved ones, weapons such as knives and guns and it is usually set in a big modern city. Furthermore, there is always up beat and nerve racking music to build up the tension. A good example of action movie is Fast and Furious.
