Analysis of 2 title sequences

Forrest Gump

In the title sequence of "Forrest Gump" we first see the Ident of the movie ( Paramount ) then it swiftly changes in a landscape of a grey sky and a feather, whilst this is going on we hear  a calm piano music playing in the background, This creates a relaxing and calm atmosphere . The camera follows the feather, showing the settings of the movie, whilst it glides down back to the ground, during this they put the credits over the settings and the camera follows a feather. The feathers leads to introducing the main character, Forrest, as the feathers falls onto his dirty sneakers and he picks it up. This shows a small amount of detail about the character as we can see that he is caring, because he picks up something delicate.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In this title sequence we see black objects and liquids, in the background we hear heavy-fast paced music, and the transition between each shot are flashes. The credits are over the images and we see the movies title near the end. Throughout the whole of the title sequence we are not presented with a character nor a setting, all we see it dark objects which moves over other objects. This could reflect the genre of the film, which creates a shocking atmosphere, the music contributes to the disoriented images and could be quite frightening.
