RESEARCH: What makes a good title sequence?- Kyle Cooper

For this piece of research we watched a video of  Kyle Cooper, who happens to be known as "the man who single handedly created main title sequence as an art form.". This was an essential piece of research because it told me factors to consider when creating a good title sequence.

According to Kyle Cooper in order for a title sequence to be a good title sequence it must; Set an expectation and get you excited!

Key points he makes about why title sequences are important for the studio is that Title sequences become a prologue for the film, including addition snippets of information which can give extra understanding of the film to the audience.

However he also states that there are some problems that a studio might face after a audience test screening, which are there might not be enough budget to test screen again and that the test audience may not understand the context completely.

Two title sequences that Kyle Cooper likes is the title sequence's for 'The Deadzone' and 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'. These are his favourites because of the Simple Typography, mysterious music and the form type (how its integrated into the title sequence) which all contribute to keeping the audience engaged.
