RESEARCH- The Importance of Sound in film

Soundscape is a combination of sounds

What is suspending disbelief ?
Putting something out of your mind

Why sound is so important ?

I watched a title sequence with no sound and just the images.Since there was no sound in the tile sequence it was weird because it didn't create an atmosphere and it was also boring and I didn't engage with the title sequence it didn't create any exciting expectations of the movie. furthermore it didn't give more context to the title sequence. I felt bored and disinterested whilst watching it.

Whereas when I watched the same title sequence again but with sound, it made the title sequence more exciting and more engaging. There was the Ident sound and the trains moving, also there was fast-paced music. There was also some dialogue in the title sequence and some office noises. This made the title sequence more enjoyable therefore the audience are encouraged to continue watching the movie. The sound also gives context to the movie and it creates an atmosphere.

In conclusion this shows that without sound you can lose the interest of your audience and that its all about the image sound is 50% of the title sequence because it creates the atmosphere that you want to create. As films sound is a 3 dimensional visceral experience which makes it more enjoyable.
