What is sound design?
Sound design is when a piece of sound is edited to create different types of sounds.
What is 'suspending disbelief'?
This is when the audience engages. In film this means putting the reality out of your mind so you can actually enjoy the film.
Sound in film is used to establish the tone, atmosphere of the film helping to give the audience clues about the plot and assist them in identify the Genre. E.g. Action films usually have fast paced music to link to the theme of the film, they often include soundscapes consisting of transitional sounds and dialogue.
