Title sequences are the titles that appear at the beginning of a film. Title sequences and film openings have evolved over the years in response to new technologies and the decision whether or not to give the audiences a hint of the genre and storyline of the film.
What we expect to see in a films opening Title sequence:
-Ident. Idents for production and distribution is the thing we expect to see the most, without knowing you've probably seen over 80 idents in your life time.
-Usually for narrative style ident you would expect to see establishing shots which establish the location before the film has begun.-Title of the film
-Effects i.e slow motion, transitions between shots
-Producers/ Executive producers
-Editors
-Costume designers
The initial purpose for Title sequences and film openings is to help audience know what genre this film is and sets a specific atmosphere and tone which usually continues throughout the film.
